La what?

I hope those of you in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving holiday. It's very cold in Milan! Snow, rain, sun - we've had a bit of everything this past weekend!

There are quite a few pharmacy brands in Europe that are worth looking into, if you are interested in slightly lower prices and consumer-safe products. Most of these brands use the least number of ingredents, which means the products will be more tolerable to the skin.

La Roche-Posay is perhaps best known for its Anthélios sunscreen, one of the best out there. In Europe, the brand's makeup collection is also available.

  • La Roche-Posay has a few types of fluid foundation. I have the Unifiance Optic Smoothing one. The texture is emollient, application foolproof, and the colour stays put all day. However, since it has a matte finish, it's too dry for me during winter.

  • The Respectissime collection for the eyes is good. I have this eyeshadow in matte chocolate brown. Pearl white, pastel blue and a couple of other fun colours are available. The formula for all eye makeup is non-irritating, non-flaking. The same goes for their mascara: lightweight, very comfortable.

  • I hardly ever finish a product completely, but I've almost used up this Nutritic chapstick. With coriander fruit oil, apricot kernel oil, biolipids and no petroleum, this is an excellent base for lipsticks.
However, I've tried La Roche-Posay skincare products and don't particularly recommend them. I used up a tube of Mela-D with SPF, which is supposed to even out my skin tone. The product worked fine as a makeup base, but I didn't notice anything different with my skin after 6, 7 months of continuous use!

Thanks for doing this post! I see European drugstore brands here in Canada and I was wondering if their moisturizers are any good. What do you think of brands like Vichy, Avene, Lumene?

So hard to get companies like that in trouble - MEAN what you say!!! But obviously there's going to be the ONE person that claims it works for them so whatevs.

I think I will write a little about Dubai soon, my boyfriend [who's from the US] is coming back home with me, so eek! Let's see...

Oh wow, I always assumed that La Roche-Posay was a top-of-the line brand (my mom loves their sunscreen), so to hear from you that their skincare line doesn't work is a shock. Thank you for your honest review!

I know -who else would I ask!! You are the 1st that came to mind! Thank you super much for agreeing to help!

My skin it combo oily t zone but dry everywhere else! :(

My perfect moisturiser would be hydrating, rejeuvenating, anti aging and not smell of pooop. Is that possible? Oh and alo not cost a bankfull of money.

I have been looking at the REN Frankinsence and Bowsella. Is that any good?

My sister is using this stuff. But I am not to sure about it, would like to know what you think?

Im familiar with their sunscreen...
I am a Med Tech by profession but here in Cali they're preferred to be called Scientist which is a lot more exciting to say. *smiles*
But so far I just been helping out with the family business, Healthy Cooking Solution.

Hahha thank you!

Oh I LOVE oxtail soup! I grew up on it! Good job you! Not as easy as it seems!

I agree! I really like Nars' color selection for their lipsticks. And the colors are really elegant (great word), esp w/o the chunky glitter that most other brands have.

I have really pigmented lips so Napoli ends up being a tad red. But it's a gorgeous color for fall/winter!

thank you for the review. I was in France yesterday, and they had a huge selection of LRP. I picked up a blusher from their brand. It looks really nice.
Now I can keep my eyes open for some other LRP items the next time.
